In preparing for Brody's arrival, we have been cleaning out the house and trying to find places to make a little additional money. Selling old electronics on Ebay, donating old clothes to Goodwill, etc. Well, Ben decided that he wasn't really riding his motorcycle much anymore and that we could sell it. He posted it on Craig's list, but then got a great idea...trade it for something he can then sell for more money (or at least enjoy in the meantime)...
Before you roll your eyes, here are some of the reasons why this was a great trade!
1) It came with the trailer, which alone is probably worth what the bike was. Ben was wanting a trailer to move Bob (the Model-T) to various far away car shows. Done! And it is a really nice trailer too with a braking system and a ramp and everything!
2) No more motorcycle. Honestly bikes in AZ are not the safest things on the road and while I trusted Ben, I can't say the same for the crazies on the road...not to mention the extra space in our garage now...
3) No more MG! Did I forget to mention? Ben received an old MG from a friend of the family a few months ago. It has no tires and has not been started since it was towed to our house. It would have cost $1000+ to get it to run and then has no potential investment value at all. The guy he traded it for is giving it to his brother, who is in an MG club, but has no MG - Perfect!
4) Fun for Ben. For his 30th this summer, Ben will likely be attending the Jeep Jamboree, a Jeeps only off-road trip. He likes to off-road anyway and was planning on taking his Wrangler. But something tells me this thing will be a bit more fun...
5) More money! Ben seems to think that he can resell the rock crawler for more than he could have sold his motorcycle, or could at least take it a part and sell the parts for collectively more than he could have sold his bike...still keeping my fingers crossed he'll be able to part with it!
